December News:

With Christmas falling mid week and the 1st December falling on a weekend it feels as though we have lost a week on the run up to the big day and Christmas tree sales reflect this as the first one went out on the 3rd.

The first one to go.

As always our minds are already thinking about next year.  Several people have asked for potted tree's.  At the moment we don't sell them potted but are thinking about the possibility next year.
What do you think? - please let us know your feed back as it is always helpful.

LOGS

Due to a great opportunity Ben will be away next month January 2014 so log deliveries will be unavailable BUT will be available for collection from the sawmill and bags of logs will be available as normal.

How is everyone coping with this weather?

What with the stormy, wet windy weather I am surprised we don't have more photo's like this to show you....

This photo was taken by Susan Ridley at one of the places she works near Tisbury.
Here at Ridley Sawmill we only had a branch off the Damson tree down and a small Thorn tree down in the meadow.

Please feel free to email any of you own photo's across that we can put up on the blog.

Surprisingly logs sales have been better than we thought especially as the temperature outside isn't that cold for this time of year.  I personally am looking forward to some cold frosty mornings/days.

It's unbelievable that we are now into November and we've already got two Christmas tree's pre-ordered for Christmas.
This year we will have some of our own smaller 4 foot trees available for sale for those of you who don't have space for a larger tree.  Claire has also been looking into the possibility of selling potted tree's in the future.  Let us know your idea's on this.

Autumn

Things to think about in autumn.

It's getting colder and getting darker earlier.

A few things to start thinking about in the next couple of months:

Logs
Please remember to order any load of logs well in advance to avoid disappointment, small bags of logs are in stock.  Please phone the sawmill for more information regarding logs deliveries as delivery is by agreement only due to demand and distance.  Collection from the sawmill is always available

Potatoes
(Will be in as soon as we get the nod but hopefully within the next week or so.)

Coal
(I'm pretty sure that's in stock too)

And me....well I'm thinking about Christmas trees as you can see by the photo below I have been marking potential trees for cutting.

Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show 2013

Unlike last year the weather was perfect, there was no need for wellies, coats or an array of tractors pulling out stuck cars.

Instead there was sun cream being applied and lots of ice creams to be eaten.

Here are some photos of the Ridley Sawmill trade stand.

Also just a quick reminder that Ridley Sawmill is shut this week for holidays and will be open again as normal on Tuesday 3rd September.

Mrs Ridley will be answering the phone if she is near by otherwise please leave a message on the answer phone and someone will get back to you asap.
